Ya know, the thought of an "excise tax" never really crossed my mind there, but it does bring up some interesting points... I was thinking more in terms of the verb, as in "excise a tumour".

Historically speaking, money and empire are pretty closely tied, and show up around the same time. Some suggest this is because of the economic complexity needed to support an empire, others as a means of paying soldiers. David Graeber ties it directly to plunder in "Debt: the first 5000 years". Whatever the origins, money is and has always been an important mechanism for turning conquored lands and peoples into more power and armies.

I'll try to drop in tomorrow, though it's turning out to be something of a hellish work-week, so I can make no promises. I'll definitely drop by the vigil, though, that sounds really inspiring.

"...empire is a racist, mass-murdering cancer on this planet, and it needs to be excised."

As in taxed? I'm perplexed, aren't we already paying too high a price for the Military Industrial Complex Blight? The love of money is the route of ALL evildoers and must be retract with zealous religious fervor. Excise is not the term I would have chosen, I'd much prefer to exercise an old-fashioned exorcism in an act of total exoneration.

He Carries The Strength Of Two Buffalo is planning a four day spiritual vigil at Hamilton's City Hall February 8th, 9th, 10th and 11th as a time for prayer, fasting and unity together, aptly coined, "Calling Creator."

You can get all the details in the Men's Circle this Wednesday, 6-9pm at the Hamilton Regional Indian Centre as Idle No More inspires us to a self-sacrificial level, in an appeal well above the upheaval and those empires of the empirical.

When in roam, do as those roaming do? Thanks for sharing your Sunday viewing, you Undustrial dude!
